#hosted OH MY GOODNESS @tctcincinnati’s @diaryofawimpykid was such a fun production!!! It’s been a hot minute since this story has been on my radar (hello I was born in the “1900s”😂) and rediscovering it had me in stitches👏🏼 This was my kids’ first time experiencing this world and they thought it was so silly and loved all the dance numbers! If you can’t tell, I definitely recommend getting to The Emery to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid, going on now until March 8! Tickets as always, start at just $12👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

We can’t wait for the new limited edition Pink Leopard Lynx!!! Lynx is huge in our house; she’s literally who taught me the ins and outs of setting boundaries, as a 30yo millennial mom. @slumberkins are so so much more than “just stuffies.” They’re reframing parenthood to help me grow into the mom I want to be.
Ain’t nobody got time for mastitis. Before you come for me, I LOVE antibiotics. They are a marvel of modern medicine. I also would rather wait to use them until they’re actually needed. Obviously, speak to your health provider before trying anything - my point in sharing is to show there are options.
Also before someone goes and tries it on their own, the castor oil is used topically not internally.
I spy some NEW things over at @earthmamaorganics!!!

My sensitive eye friends will get it😅 I got to the point where I physically could not keep my eyes open to drive without sunglasses. Now, I haven’t worn them a single time since last winter😍
I’m sure others will have tips as well but for me I started with cutting out processed foods, avoiding sunscreen as daily moisturizer and instead using only as needed, wearing hats and staying in shade when possible (this was gradual from every single day to now only whenever it’s super bright and sunny). Now I’m totally free to do whatever I want without my eyes forcing me to withdraw.

Phew, someone should really tell us parents that teaching a whole new person to read is the actual most painful experience in parenting😭 What are your best tips and tricks????? I’m learning we can only do a small portion at a time, she needs to take breaks to do something physically exhausting/stimulating, and we absolutely must avoid when she’s tired.
Laughing sweetly at me seven years ago, determined to raise a vegan baby. We did it in a healthy way and there is absolutely something to be said for veganism but it isn’t where we are now. Now we focus on local, sustainable, and as close to the earth as we can. So far Theo has been presented steak (wouldn’t touch it), persimmon (licked it), duck (took a couple bites), carrots (spit them out), and a couple other things. So far he’s my only one who does not get the big deal about food😄
Penelope’s first @cincinnatiballet Nutcracker, ✔️
I can’t describe how much JOY it brings me to share this love with her. How incredible is our city, where we have one of the most creative and talented ballet companies ever😍🥹
I know everyone and their grandmother includes The Nutcracker in their holiday traditions already but in case you don’t - tickets start at $39 and there are several performances through Dec 28!

#ad Toys break. Clothes get outgrown. But the gift of water safety lasts forever! This holiday season, give your child the gift of swim lessons - a present that means confidence in the water, peace of mind for you, and safer tomorrows for years to come💝

This is hard for me. Like weirdly, it makes no real sense, hard. I got a look of completely undisguised disgust pointed at me as I stood with my three small children and watched my oldest. She got a huff of irritation directed at her despite there being two rows of carts and she was only working at one. But I also got a regulated body with a job to do instead of that body running around and instigating her brother and sister into something potentially dangerous, and a look of pure pride that blossomed across her face when she figured out moving parts and completed her work.
Thank you @thewilderbrothers for giving me actionable tools for raising a rowdy kid; I just need work on implementing them because clearly, they work.
IT’S THE NUTCRACKER OPENING WEEK🩰
A beloved family tradition for so many, our @cincinnatiballet keeps finding more and more ways to make The Nutcracker feel new and fun every year. We got to peek in on a rehearsal and Penelope’s giggling at the Rat King and gasping at the toys coming to life made my mommy heart just soar😍 We can’t wait to see all the surprises in store!
Tickets start at $39. Performances run December 18–28 at Music Hall.
@tctcincinnati Elf Jr was so cute!!!! We always leave looking forward to the next time we get to go, and I am still raving to anyone who will listen, about the newly completed Emery Theatre! They really had the kids in mind, with easily accessible bathrooms, a beautiful and inclusive calming room, snacks kids actually want to eat, just all of it. We are so lucky to live in a city that values our children❤️
Our favorite supplemental homeschool material, year after year👏🏼 I love being able to fall back on ideas already put together and still have room to fit in whatever we happen to come up with on our own too❤️
(Don’t come for me about the dyes, my kids are very well versed in that they aren’t going to eat it)
-Maintaining our routines (bedtime, tv only on movie night, a treat WITH meals, etc). This protects not only my own mental health but my children’s in big ways as well. Routine builds trust, feelings of safety, and physical health.
-Handmade and homemade gifts. I’m focusing on spending my time, rather than my money. For the few items I am buying secondhand or new, I’m purchasing from local small businesses.
-Going for nostalgia instead of new. Mass consumerism can end now, for real.
-Saying no to doing all the things. We are so fortunate to live in an area that has everything you could possibly want to do for the holidays, but that doesn’t mean we HAVE to do them.
-Letting the kids participate in the magic. Putting ornaments in one spot on the tree? Yep. Decorating their bedroom? Why not. Drawing chaotic Christmas cards for the neighbors? They are really charming though🥹
Welcome
